Governor’s Rescinded Mask Mandate

As we approach 300,000 COVID 19 cases in the state of Mississippi, our Governor’s recent statement that lifts the mask mandate and allows businesses to open with full capacity is alarming, and we believe dangerous, and counterproductive to the efforts to end this deadly virus. Therefore, we recommend that our constituents and community follow the CDC and federal guidelines as they relate to COVID 19. We must cover and protect our communities with our prayers and actions. Furthermore, we must trust the scientific knowledge and data of healthcare professionals by following their guidelines on this pandemic that has been devasting to communities in our state, our country, and the world. We must be diligent in our resolve to end this pandemic. We must be persistent to wear our mask properly, covering our noses and mouths, continue to practice social distancing, and wash our hands frequently and thoroughly for 20 seconds or more. We encourage each of you to get the vaccination as soon as possible when it becomes available for you. Even if you have already been vaccinated, please, continue to wash your hands, practice social distancing, and wear your mask.
